Cellar Dwellar is a new imprint from Terror Vision devoted to releasing titles from the “forgotten corners” of cinema, and their second release is CYBERNATOR (1991), a shot-on-video oddity starring Lonnie Schyluer (Melrose Place, Models, Inc.). Lonnie lives here in Iowa where the two of us enjoyed a fun, candid interview and audio commentary for Cellar Dweller’s disc that also includes a new interview with actor Christina Lucia Peralta-Ramos. Worth noting: the interview and commentary with Lonnie were recorded at the Capitol Theater in Burlington, IA, a movie house that Schyluer was instrumental in having restored a number of years ago. Orders are open now on TV’s site. Details below.
SYNOPSIS
The year is 2010. It is a world where the economy has collapsed, governments have fallen, and where riots and violence reign. The power is in the hands of the military. Cyborg assassination squads trained by the military have turned outlaw. Under the command of Colonel Peck, they wage an all-out terrorist attack against political and military officials. Officer McCord and his partner Weaver become involved in the murder of a Senator by cyborg hitmen. When all the evidence points to the two officers, they are ordered to stand down but they pursue the case undaunted. As tensions rise and secrets are unearthed, McCord is forced to hunt down and destroy the cyborg assassins and confront the cyborg leader, Colonel Peck.
Cellar Dweller is jolting for joy for this Vista Street Entertainment entry and this overlooked gem. Join Hair, Razor, Ratchet Jaw, Deep Throat, L.E.D., Samurai, and Claw in this futuristic brawl of cyborg action in Cybernator. Scanned and restored from its original Beta SP master, this film has never looked better.
