Media Play News, the premiere home media entertainment trade magazine, has announced their Home Media Awards ballot for 2021, looking back at the best in home entertainment in 2020. Four releases featuring Reverend Entertainment-produced special features are nominated in a total of eight categories. Winners will be chosen by the public, and polls are open now at MediaPlayNews.com.
The HAUNT Collector’s Edition set, released in October 2020 from Ronin Flix, is on the Media Play ballot in the following categories: Best Extras / Bonus Material, Best Upgrade, Best Box Art, Best Packaging, and Best Indie Studio Disc Release. This acknowledgement is especially meaningful as the project was a labor of love for filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and for me, the story of which can be found HERE.
THE DEER HUNTER landed in May, 2020 from Shout! Factory as part of their Shout Select line, and is nominated for Best 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc.
Scream Factory’s FRIDAY THE 13TH boxed set, an October 2020 release, is also in the running in two categories: Best Boxed Set and Best Box Art.
THE HAUNTING, part of the new Paramount Presents line, is nominated for Best Horror/Thriller Release. This was my first title for Paramount and a very special moment.
These nominations are a tremendous honor for me and everyone associated with them. Special thanks to Cliff MacMillan and Ronin Flix for believing in the potential in our crazy HAUNT mission, and to Shout! Factory for entrusting Reverend Entertainment with such a prestigous title as THE DEER HUNTER and for making the FRIDAY THE 13TH set happen. Huge thanks to Mark Savage, Jim Kunz, and everyone else in the Reverend family who worked on these. Every project is precious, and this duo now have special mile markers we could never have expected and truly cherish.
