Ep 9: Eric Freeman

by | Jan 3, 2019

Actor Eric Freeman stepped into the lead role of Ricky Caldwell in SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 in 1987, following the controversy of the first film with one of the most debated sequels in genre history. As clips of his delivery of “garbage day” were becoming the stuff of internet legend, Freeman was out of the business fighting personal battles far from the big screen, oblivious to the cult following SNDN2 was amassing. Several years ago he emerged at a screening in Los Angeles, and most recently was instrumental in the deluxe Shout Factory blu-ray that is overflowing with documentaries and new material celebrating this cult classic. Eric and I chatted about his life before, during, and after his turn as Ricky, the health scare that almost ended it all, his script for a sequel to SNDN2, stepping back in to Caldwell’s shoes for one of the unique special features on the new blu-ray, and much more. The perfect year end gift under your tree!
